How to make a GIF from several photos

You want to merge several photos into one image that animates, which is what most people call “making a GIF”. It is easy, and depending on your use case there is even something better than the GIF format.

The simplest method (no software, no account)

1. Open photo-animee.fr in Chrome, Edge, Brave or Opera;
2. Drag and drop your photos (add order = play order, changeable);
3. Pick a format (square, landscape, portrait) and framing;
4. The animated image generates itself. Download it and you are done.

What if I really need a .gif file?

Some uses still require the .gif extension, like old forums or some corporate messengers. In that case, online converters like ezgif assemble your photos into a GIF. Expect more technical settings (frame delay, dimensions, loop) and a heavier file for lower quality. For modern web use (listings, sites, recent messengers), animated WebP does the job better and more simply.
